This is absolutely the most unreal thing I have ever heard of. “Stranger than fiction” doesn’t even do justice to this. The Cambodian government sanctioned a ring-fight between 42 midgets and a single African lion. The midgets were part of the “Cambodian Midget Fighting League” and had claimed that they would battle any man, creature or machine. An unnamed fan suggested that a single lion could take them all out…which led to the battle some weeks later. They flew in a lion, made a lot of boasting about how they would kill it, and then entered the ring with it.
The fight lasted 12 minutes, at which time 28 fighters were declared dead, and the remaining 14 had such severe injuries that they could not fight back (broken bones, lost limbs, the usual lion battle stuff…).
Unreal.
